Challengers

Ages 11-14, Green ball -Yellow ball         $180 per session/$35 class for Mondays & Wednesdays

Mondays-Wednesdays 5-6:30 p.m. Sundays 12-2 p.m. $240/session or $45/class for Sundays

This program is for students aged 11-17 who are still building a solid foundation, transitioning from green ball clinics and those who are new to  playing tennis and are being introduced to the game possibly for the first time. Players in this group will range in skills and ability. The introductory levels will be taught initially with the green balls to help them become successful at rallying and to shorten the learning curve with a slightly slower and lower bouncing ball. This will help the child maintain a consistent contact point.

Silver II

Ages 14-17, Yellow ball      $180 per session $35/class for Mondays & Wednesdays

Mondays & Wednesdays 6:30-8 p.m. Sundays 2-4 p.m. $240 for Sunday session $45/class

This program is designed for students’ ages 11-17 that has experience playing the game of tennis and has a good foundation. This group is designed for players who have come up through the program but choose not to play tournaments but are rather thinking about playing on their school teams in the future or even to learn a lifelong sport. This group will include JV players and high school students who are playing doubles on their teams and may include some singles players as well. This program will touch on singles play but will place a higher emphasis on doubles play.

  • Able to perform a unit turn in a timely manner and have good preparation

  • Able to understand how to hit with spin and have started consistently using it

  • Can sustain a full court rally over 5 shots consistently

  • Understanding of volley and overhead footwork and how to create angles

  • Able to consistently hit serves in play

  • Started working on developing a 1st serve and how to get power and spin from their service motion

  • Have the ability to play competitive full court matches

  • Has a good fundamental foundation 

  • Has begun creating power and accuracy by using the body efficiently 

  • Can sustain a full court rally over 10 shots consistently

  • Ability to win points at the net by using  approach shots, volleys, or overheads

  • Ability to win points by using a 1st serve with power and or accuracy

  • Understanding of topspin and backspin and knowing when to use each spin

  • Beginning to learn point play strategies

  • Have the ability to play competitive full court matches as well as tournaments

Select Academy

Middle School/ High School Advanced Tournament players Ages 11-17

$180/session or $35/class for Tuesdays & Thursdays , Sundays $240 Session or $45/class

Tuesdays & Thursdays 5-6:30 p.m. Middle School & 6:30-8 p.m. for High School, Sundays combined 4-6 p.m.

The program will be designed to help our varsity singles players and/or tournament players achieve success in their singles match play. We will focus on the tactical, mental, physical, and strategic aspects of the game. These players will either be playing USTA tournaments or playing varsity singles on their respective high school teams*. We will have a portion of fitness each clinic run by one of our staff to help the students achieve their tennis goals.

Gold Skills

  • Has a good fundamental foundation

  • Able to hit with power and accuracy by using their body efficiently

  • Can sustain a full court rally over 15 shots consistently

  • Ability to consistently put pressure on opponents by having a strong 1st serve and coming to the net

  • Good use of angles from the back of the court as well as the front of the court

  • Understanding of both topspin and backspin and knowing the appropriate time to use them

  • Advanced understanding of point play strategy and match play development

  • Player may have good confidence, and a playing style or identity on the court

  • Player may have started being successful playing matches and working towards developing a ranking

More Information

Going forward our instructors will be sending out evaluations at the end of each session to help you know where the kids fall on the Junior Pathway. 

Going through the Junior Pathway there is a lot of opportunity for the kids to start playing, there are some Orange ball and Green ball events between Binghamton, Syracuse, and Scranton we post on our Junior Tournament page. We also run a Junior Ladder and a Green ball Gold group for our more advanced 12 & under kids to gain match experience.
